Judgments against PDP expected —Edebiri

AHEAD of the 2016 governorship election in Edo State,  a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  Chief Solomon Edebiri, has described recent court judgments against candidates of the party as expected in a developing nation like Nigeria.
He added that the PDP would dispense with the issue of godfatherism in electing its representatives in future elections.

Edebiri, who spoke with newsmen in Benin, yesterday, said that the adverse judicial judgements against the PDP, would be a thing of the past in the nearest future as the country grows democratically.
He said: “The PDP will give the judiciary a chance to do what it wants to do, whether right or wrong.  The PDP will continue to respect the judiciary, allow their decisions to prevail and if at the Supreme Cour they rule against us, we will let it be.
“We are watching. My best advice to President Mohammed Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congrss, APC, is that they should concentrate on taking this country to the next level economically,  create jobs for our teeming youths and stop watching anybody.
“We will support him to succeed. That is all the country wants from us and you can see that PDP is already doing this and you know what the story would have been if we were to be on the other side.
“APC should be careful in antagonizing the PDP because,  PDP would have stopped APC from occupying that seat if it had wanted to and this would have certainly led to war.”
On godfatherism in the PDP, Edebiri said once the Senator Ike Ekweremadu report was ratified by the national convention of the party, it would be thing of the past,  as the party will be returned to the people.
