Understanding the Wonders of Kingdom Stewardship!
The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools. …And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever (Proverbs 3:35; Daniel 12:3).
According to scriptures, wisdom is knowing the right thing to do from God’s Word and doing it. It is knowing the right way to go and going there. Also, it is knowing the right step to take, and taking it. As it is written: Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock (Matthew 7:24-27).
In other words, Word practice is what makes wise, not intellectual prowess; and one of God’s ordained wisdom platforms for our rising is Kingdom stewardship. This is because Kingdom stewardship is what puts us in command of all things that make for life and godliness. As it is written: But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33; see also Exodus 23:25-26; 2 Peter 1:3).
That is what makes Kingdom stewardship the most profitability venture in the world. It is, therefore, wisdom to subscribe fully to its demands in order to reap the benefits therein.
But, what is Kingdom stewardship?
Kingdom stewardship is serving the interest of God’s Kingdom in all its ramifications. It is not theoretical, but a demonstrable commitment to the growth, expansion and enlargement of the Kingdom of God.
Kingdom stewardship can be categorized into practical and spiritual stewardship. Practical stewardship involves the tireless investment of time, energy and resources towards the advancement of God’s Kingdom. On the other hand, spiritual stewardship entails soul-winning, prayers, intercession for salvation of souls, and establishment of new converts in the faith, resulting in church growth. However, though the Bible says: “In all labour there is profit,” it is important to note that spiritual stewardship, which involves soul-winning, stands out as the most profitable of all Kingdom advancement endeavours (Proverbs 14:23).
Jesus speaking to His disciples said: Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you (John 15:16; see also Daniel 12:3; Matthew 6:33).
Every Kingdom stewardship endeavour has rewards attached to it, but none can be compared with the rewards of soul-winning.
What makes soul-winning the most profitable engagement?
- A redeemed soul is the most valuable treasure to God on earth: For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16:26).
From the above scripture, we discover that a soul is worth much more than all the wealth in the world put together, in the sight God. That is why the Bible says: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16; see also Romans 8:32).
In other words, God will pay anything to anyone, who will partner with Him in reaping the harvest of souls into His Kingdom.
In addition, we understand from scriptures that heaven goes agog with jubilation and singing when a soul is saved. As it is written:… joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance (Luke 15:7).
When we sow seeds of joy to heaven through soul-winning, we reap harvests of joy unspeakable full of glory, divine presence, a healthy, vibrant life, and an uncheckered access to revelations. No wonder the seventy returned from soul- winning with joy (Psalms 16:11; Proverbs 17:22; Isaiah 12:3; Luke 10:17; Romans 8:31).
- Every soul winner is on God’s payroll:Soul-winning empowers us to live above every form of lack because we are on God’s payroll. For instance, Jesus speaking to His disciples on soul-winning asked:
…When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing (Luke 22:35).
If the disciples had lacked anything, Thomas the doubter would have spoken out loud, but he didn’t. That means the disciples’ needs were supernaturally met, as they engaged the mystery of soul-winning.
In addition, it is common knowledge that where we work determines how much we earn. For instance, a local government worker, earns a local government’s pay; a state level worker, earns a state level’s pay, a federal level worker, earns what is paid at the federal level and an oil company worker, earns at the oil company’s level. They might all live in the same city but where they work determines their pay package. Also, we can’t compare the salary of someone working in the White House, to one who works in a state in Nigeria. This is because the one in the White House is working in the office of a leading nation in the world; and as such, is entitled to a leading pay. In the same vein, when we work for the office of the Most High God, we earn a most high pay that addresses all our needs. It is written: And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together (John 4:36; see also Job 36:11).
All through scriptures, soul-winning is the only platform where wages are paid. While other Kingdom endeavours get us blessed, soul-winning obligates God to pay us wages, salaries, allowances and plenty of fringe benefits; and by reason of where we work, it’s always mega!
- Through soul-winning, we inherit glory:Our active engagement in soul-winning provokes the giant in us to rise and our stars to shine. As it is written
And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever (Daniel 12:3; see also Proverbs 11:30).
However, we must recognise that every true soul winner will experience mockery before he/she can enter the realms of glory.
The Bible says: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2).
The mockery is to stop us from engaging the mystery of soul-winning and reaping its benefits but keeping at it, will always culminate in glory. Therefore, let’s despise the shame in order to enter the realms of glory that God has ordained for us in this ever-profiting venture.
- Kingdom stewardship, which includes soul winning, is a platform for our exemption from all evils: There are serving believers and seated believers; but only serving believers commit God to their exemption and distinction from others. As it is written:
And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not (Malachi 3:17-18).
That means, serving God is the guaranteed access to our exemption rights in Christ Jesus.
In conclusion, it is important to know that tireless commitment to spiritual stewardship is the gateway to a most empowering, enriching and fulfilling adventure in life. As it is written:
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58; see also Matthew 6:33; Galatians 6:7-9).
Therefore, let’s expect to be rewarded openly as we engage this Kingdom mystery with the whole of our heart (1 Corinthians 9:10; Matthew 6:6; 1 Timothy 4:15; Ephesians 6:6-7).
This shall be our most profitable season as we go all out to see souls saved and established in God’s Kingdom. Remain ever blessed!
Jesus is Lord!
