NCP chieftain urges Ize-Iyamu, others to join Obaseki to develop Edo

Pastor Peters Omoragbon, National Conscience Party (NCP) 2016 governorship candidate in Edo, says it is time for all candidates that lost in the election to join hands with Gov. Godwin Obaseki to build the state.

Omoragbon spoke in an interview in Lagos while reacting to the election tribunal’s April 14 verdict in Benin.
Omoragbon, who is also NCP Deputy National Chairman, South-South, said that after the tribunal’s verdict, all candidates defeated in the election should put their resources together to make the life of Edo people better, rather than spend more money on litigation.

“As a candidate in the said elections and an indigene of Edo State, I am equally a stakeholder like every other Edolites. “It is on the above premise that I call on everyone, irrespective of party affiliation, to put Edo State uppermost in our hearts than pursue personal vendetta or promote any form of parochial euphemism in the guise of seeking justice.

“Promotion is of God, for there is no power but that of God, the powers that be are ordained of God. “The people are suffering and need sustainable programmes and projects that can provide meals on their tables and monies in their pockets, than being made spectators of the battle of wits amongst political gladiators.

“Such resources could be invested in people-oriented programmes or donated to charities,” he said. Omoragbon said what Obaseki’s government needs now is to focus on developmental programmes and not distractions. “As desirable as the celebration of victory by the ruling party is, equally, there is the dire need for our elected governor to act as a leader to all Edolites.

“He should encourage everyone to put the bitterness of electoral loss behind. “He should form a united front for the good and well-being of all Edo people,” Omoragbon said, while congratulating Obaseki on the tribunal victory. “To Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, you have made your point as a dogged politician, but let us eschew bitterness and rivalry and join hands in building Edo State,” he said.
